African culture
The black African was brought to Brazil to be employed as slave labor. According to the cultures they represented (religious rites, dialects, customs and customs, physical characteristics, etc.) they formed three main groups, which presented marked differences: the Sudanese, the Bantu and the Males.
The city of Salvador, in northeastern Brazil, was the one that received the largest number of blacks and where several cultural elements survive such as "baiana costume" (with turban, lace skirts, bracelets, necklaces), capoeira, the instruments of music like the drum, atabaque, cuíca, berimbau and afoxé.
In general, the cultural contribution of the blacks was great: in the food (vatapá, acarajé, acaçá, cocada, foot of brat, etc.), in the dances (quilombos, maracatus and aspects of the bumba meu boi) and in the religious manifestations (the candomblé in Bahia, the macumba in Rio de Janeiro and the xango in some northeastern states).
