Coup d'etat
Dismissal of a government by unconventional means, usually with the use of military force and by restricted groups of society. In most strokes, no radical changes occur, preserving existing social structures. Brazil's recent history is marked by coups d'état, such as those of 1930 and 1964. The first symbolized the beginning of the Vargas dictatorship and the second, the beginning of the military regime.
